Oshkosh® S-Series™ Introduces New Trainer Cab with Enhanced Features to Meet Growing Industry Training Needs
With operator-focused ergonomics and advanced telematics, the new S-Series™ Trainer Cab equips companies to develop confident and capable operators.
Oshkosh, WI (November 7, 2024) – Oshkosh S-Series, an Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE: OSK) business, announced today the introduction of its new Oshkosh® S-Series™ Trainer Cab. Built on the Oshkosh S-Series front discharge mixer platform, the state-of-the-art cab was specifically designed to meet the evolving training needs of the ready mix industry. As Oshkosh continues to focus on innovation and meeting customer needs, this reimagined front discharge mixer Trainer Cab provides a comfortable, versatile and effective training solution by providing a second seat for an experienced operator to accompany a new operator in the cab
Since the launch of its legacy Trainer Cab configuration in 1999, the S-Series Trainer Cab has been completely re-engineered to meet and exceed expectations for a spacious and ergonomic environment that stands up to rigorous operational needs. The S-Series Trainer Cab is now being delivered to customers across North America, complementing the traditional Oshkosh S-Series front discharge mixer.
"Like many industries, construction businesses have faced a significant skilled labor shortage and our customers need a training solution that is effective, comfortable and versatile enough to support both new drivers and experienced trainers," said Sara Fedderly, General Manager of Oshkosh’s S-Series business. "Our new Trainer Cab is the result of a collaborative effort with our customers to meet the unique training needs of the industry."
Enhancements to the new S-Series Trainer Cab include outstanding ergonomics, great visibility and easy ingress and egress. These new features make vehicle operation appealing and practical for senior drivers tasked with training new operators.
Additional features include:
- Efficient entry, open interior with improved visibility and ample storage compared to the legacy Trainer Cab
- 44 percent larger cab interior than previous iterations
- Significant leg room and a dedicated air ride trainer seat for added comfort
- 7-inch LCD touchscreen
With features such as multiple camera views, enhanced HVAC for optimal comfort and Oshkosh’s signature build quality, the Trainer Cab sets the standard for training in high-demand environments. Additionally, the S-Series Trainer Cab’s integration with the Oshkosh ClearSky Intelligence™ platform offers real-time insights and diagnostics, streamlining fleet management and maximizing training overall.
As the only trainer cab currently available for front discharge mixers, the Oshkosh S-Series Trainer Cab is not just a training tool—it’s a long-term investment in safety and operational efficiency. This dual-purpose cab can also be utilized as a fully functioning mixer cab when not in training use, making it a versatile addition to any fleet.
"Our customers have been clear. They need a cab that not only gets the job done but also supports driver development and retention," added Fedderly. "The new Trainer Cab does just that, helping them navigate the skilled labor shortage while building a confident and capable team."
