A TIMELESS CLASSIC.
OSHKOSH HISTORY
In 1915, William Besserdich and Bernhard Mosling patented their innovative four-wheel drive system. Unable to find a buyer for their design, they endeavored to realize its promise themselves. That marked the start of Oshkosh Corporation — and set the tone for the next century.
Today, Oshkosh continues to dream, discover and develop new and improved ways to make a difference in people’s lives around the world.
READY-MIX MARKET TAKES OFF
In 1945, right as World War II was ending, millions of people went back to work which meant an explosion in the economy with roads, curbs, gutters, slabs, basements, and more requiring extra concrete. Oshkosh build a revolutionary concrete carrier in 1955 called the Model 50-50, a 4x4 truck that allowed contractors to get in and out of job sites easier without getting stuck. Up until 1975, different axle configurations were produced to allow greater capacity. Oshkosh did not rest on its laurels, aware that drivers were having to back into job sites, the company developed the first front discharge mixer called the B-Series. With all the mixer controls in the cab, the operator could drive directly to the spot where the contractor wanted the concrete placed.
S-SERIES IS BORN
Starting in 1981, Oshkosh developed a chassis and mixer combination, forming the first S-Series mixer that launched in 1982. This gave contractors the convenience of purchasing and receiving field support from a single source. It also eliminated delays caused by moving a finished truck elsewhere for mixer installation.
